Hardware Generation of 5G AKA & EPS-AKA Authentication Vectors

Executing cryptographic challenge-response algorithms for mobile network subscriber authentication.

The Core of Cellular Authentication (5G AKA)

When a device connects to a 5G network, the Unified Data Management (UDM) invokes TelecomHSM to execute the MILENAGE or TUAK algorithm. The HSM takes a random challenge (RAND) and the subscriber's secret key (K) to generate the expected response (XRES*), cipher key (CK), integrity key (IK), and network authentication token (AUTN).

Preventing SQN Desynchronization Attacks

Adversaries attempt to desynchronize subscriber Sequence Numbers (SQN) to force resynchronization storms. TelecomHSM maintains secure hardware monotonic counter arrays that track SQN progression with automated delta-window validation.
