Engineering high-throughput ECIES decryption engines for 5G Standalone subscriber identity privacy.
For decades, cellular networks transmitted the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) unencrypted over the air during initial network attachment, enabling rogue 'Stingray' surveillance devices. 5G Standalone encrypts the subscriber identity on the SIM card using the operator's public key (SUCI). TelecomHSM houses the corresponding private key in certified hardware, executing the SIDF function at carrier scale.
During peak hours, national mobile operators process over 100,000 network attachment requests per second. TelecomHSM deploys parallelized Elliptic Curve Integrated Encryption Scheme (ECIES) decryption units that extract SUPIs in under 8 milliseconds.
